Gemayel Meets with Vatican Official, Outlines Fundamentals of Lebanon's Unique Regional Role

Lebanese Kataeb Party leader, MP Samy Gemayel, met with the Vatican Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, for a two-hour discussion focusing on the latest developments, notably the lingering presidential election bottleneck as well as the rising tensions along Lebanon’s southern Lebanon and its repercussions on the country.

During the meeting, Gemayel outlined the Kataeb’s perspective on the current situation, emphasizing unwavering commitment to electing a president capable of engaging with all components of the Lebanese society.

Gemayel also highlighted the ongoing obstruction of all constitutional institutions, attributing it to Hezbollah and its allies' insistence on usurping decision-making power in Lebanon.

The Kataeb chief reiterated that the party’s core mission has always been to preserve Lebanon's sovereignty and independence, stressing that these two principles remain central to all other issues and are fundamental to maintaining Lebanon's unique position in the region.
