Gemayel Meets with Saudi Ambassador to Lebanon Walid Al-Bukhari

Former President of the Kataeb party Amine Gemayel, on Thursday welcomed in his office , Saudi Ambassador to Lebanon Walid Al-Bukhari, with talks featuring high on the latest developments at the internal, regional and international levels.

Gemayel saluted the Kingdom, its monarch and crown prince, for its decade-long sincere support for Lebanon, despite the negative stances by some politicians.

"There is no doubt that Lebanon is still in a dangerous square and needs its Arab and international friendships to enable it to overcome its unprecedented crisis,” Gemayel said.

On the maritime demarcation agreement, President Gemayel said: " It is a new armistice agreement or the second one, or a security agreement between Lebanon and Israel that establishes a new phase that constitutes an extension of the armistice agreement of 1949 with its outdated meanings, including arms and popular slogans”

He pointed out that geographical borders, as well as the country’s sovereignty, were an indivisible unit by land, sea and air, and therefore the agreement on the security of maritime borders extends to the interior.

He considered that the demarcation agreement realistically established a new phase on the Lebanese and regional arenas.

President Gemayel hoped that the agreement would be a facilitating factor for the completion of the constitutional obligations, foremost of which is the election of a President of the Republic, the formation of a government, and an entry point to contain the country’s unprecedented economic crisis.

For his part, Ambassador Al-Bukhari, said that his meeting with Former President of the Kataeb party Amine Gemayel touched on vital dossiers and developments on the Lebanese and regional arena.

Ambassador Al-Bukhari also underlined the Kingdom's keenness on Lebanon's security and stability.
