Lebanese Kataeb Party leader, MP Samy Gemayel, received a delegation from the South Litani Villages Delegation, headed by the Mayor of Kawkaba, Elie Abou Nakoul, at his headquarters in Bikfaya.
The meeting focused on discussing their demands and the conditions for their return to their villages.
During the meeting, the delegation reviewed the current situation in the south and presented a list of demands that included measures to promote recovery after the war.
The attendees emphasized the need for the reconstruction of their villages in parallel with other southern villages and called for compensation for damages to infrastructure, homes, institutions, and agricultural lands, along with exemptions from electricity, water, and communications bills.
They also requested the payment of municipal dues to enable them to meet citizens' needs.
MP Gemayel affirmed the special status of the southern villages and their vital national role, pledging to follow up on their demands with the relevant authorities.
He also briefed the delegation on a written request he raised with the government regarding the unjustified delay in distributing funds from the Independent Municipal Fund and telecommunications revenues.
Gemayel expressed hope for the upcoming phase, which he hopes will focus on building a state of institutions and speeding up the approval of decentralization law to achieve balanced development across all Lebanese territories.
