Gemayel: Lebanon Enters New Era as Our Martyrs’ Vision Begins to Take Shape

Kataeb leader Samy Gemayel reaffirmed his party’s unwavering commitment to Lebanese sovereignty and independence, describing it as “the guardian of a free and independent Lebanon.”

Speaking at the annual dinner of the Kataeb's Bikfaya chapter, Gemayel highlighted the town's  historical significance to the party, recalling its role in pivotal moments of Lebanon’s modern history.

“In Bikfaya, we have shared joy and sorrow, stood together in victories and in martyrdom, buried our fallen, and elected our martyred president Bachir Gemayel. Bikfaya is no ordinary town; it has made history and laid the foundation for Lebanon’s future,” he said.

He added that Lebanon is entering a “historic turning point,” citing the departure of the Assad regime in Syria and the current government’s efforts to ensure that weapons are confined to the state.

“We are witnessing the beginning of the realization of our martyrs’ dream and that of the Kataeb Party,” he said.

Gemayel also stressed that the party had never compromised on sovereignty or freedom, and had always resisted projects detrimental to Lebanon.

“Today it is time for the Kataeb Party to claim its rightful place in history and at the ballot box,” he said, calling on members to “restore our leading role and prove that the Kataeb Party is the party of the State and legitimacy, the party of youth and the future.”

Justice Minister Adel Nassar, also speaking at the dinner, praised the Kataeb Party’s role in defending judicial independence and warned against returning to political distribution of judicial positions, which he said would reproduce past failures. He also addressed the government’s plan to centralize weapons under state control, noting that implementation was underway but largely dependent on political will.

“The army continues to execute its mandate, transferring weapons stores as conditions allow. The success of this plan relies on political commitment to end the dual control over arms,” Nassar said, urging a practical, step-by-step approach to prevent security risks.

Gemayel was joined by his wife Karen, MP Nadim Gemayel, Justice Minister Adel Nassar, Kataeb Secretary-General Serge Dagger, former minister Alain Hakim, members of the party’s political bureau, Metn region chief Michel Hraoui, and a large gathering of mayors and local dignitaries.
