Gemayel, Hankach Convene Meeting to Address Displacement Crisis in North Metn

At the initiative of MPs Samy Gemayel and Elias Hankach, Metn officials and figureheads convened on Thursday to discuss the issue of displacement in the North Metn district, agreeing on a series of practical steps to address the challenges arising from the situation.

The meeting was held at the Liqaa Hotel in Rabweh and brought together several MPs from the district, including Melhem Riachi, Ibrahim Kanaan, Michel Al-Murr, Elias Bou Saab, Hagop Pakradounian, and Razi Al-Hajj. Also attending were Mirna Al-Murr Abu Sharaf, president of the North Metn Municipalities Union, local mayors, representatives of the security services, and Kataeb’s North Metn regional chief Michel Hrawi.

“We’re putting our differences aside and working together to protect the people of Metn and all our citizens, even with the limited resources available,” Gemayel said after the meeting.

The Kataeb Party leader stressed the need for close coordination, saying mechanisms would be put in place to safeguard towns and residents and to ensure that security and stability are maintained.

He added that a permanent coordination framework would be established, bringing together all municipalities and MPs in Metn, without exception, to track developments and respond effectively.
