Gemayel Emphasizes Kataeb’s Role in Building a Capable, Sovereign Lebanon

Kataeb leader Samy Gemayel called on youth to uphold the party’s message of sovereignty and national responsibility, stressing that Lebanon’s future depends on the commitment of its next generation.

“The Kataeb Party will remain the party that champions a capable State and full sovereignty, free from personal agendas or narrow interests,” Gemayel said during a speech at the party’s annual Students and Youth Camp in Bakish.

Reflecting on the party’s history, Gemayel recalled the struggles faced by previous generations, from armed resistance in 1975 to peaceful activism in universities and schools.

“A generation of unarmed youth confronted the Syrian occupation army with bare chests, having nothing but their courage. We were arrested, beaten, and paid the price, but we never surrendered,” he said. “Today, your role is to bear witness to the truth and carry forward the message of a party that has never compromised or betrayed its principles.”

Acknowledging ongoing challenges, Gemayel stressed the party’s continued commitment to defending Lebanon’s independence and freedom.

“Thanks to the Kataeb’s choices, Lebanon today has a sovereign president and a prime minister who believes in the rule of law and the army’s monopoly on arms,” he said. “Kataeb ministers refuse any compromise and put justice above all else.”

Highlighting the party’s focus on transparency and honesty, he urged students to continue striving for a country worthy of the sacrifices of martyrs and the aspirations of its youth. Gemayel described his interaction with the students as a reaffirmation of the unity and resilience of the Kataeb family, emphasizing that the party’s future rests on the younger generation’s readiness to assume responsibility and shape a better Lebanon.
