Gemayel Demands Expulsion of Iranian Ambassador, Says Tehran’s Guardianship Is Over

Kataeb Party leader Samy Gemayel lashed out Wednesday at Iran’s foreign minister, saying Tehran has no right to lecture the Lebanese government and calling for the Iranian ambassador’s expulsion from Beirut.

“The Iranian Foreign Minister is the last person entitled to give lessons to Lebanon’s government,” Gemayel wrote on X.

In a scathing post, Gemayel said Iran should mind its own affairs and allow the Lebanese to repair the damage he says Tehran and its allies have caused in the country.

“He should focus on his own country and let us fix what they ruined in ours,” he said.

Gemayel, a vocal critic of Hezbollah and Iran’s role in Lebanon, declared that Tehran’s political and military tutelage over the country had come to an end.

“Your guardianship over Lebanon is over, for good,” he wrote. “These kinds of statements can no longer be allowed to go unnoticed."

In a bold final appeal, Gemayel called on Lebanon’s foreign minister to take immediate diplomatic action.

“I urge my friend, the Foreign Minister, to summon the Iranian ambassador tomorrow as a first step toward expelling him,” he said.
