Gemayel Calls for State Monopoly on Arms in Meeting with U.S. Chargé d’Affaires

Kataeb Party leader Samy Gemayel met on Tuesday with U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Keith Hanigan at the party’s headquarters in Saifi to discuss the latest political developments in Lebanon and the wider region.

During the talks, Gemayel underscored the urgent need for the Lebanese State to regain full sovereignty over its entire territory and to ensure that all weapons are placed under the control of legitimate State institutions.

He stressed that restoring the State’s authority and consolidating its exclusive control over arms are fundamental steps toward rebuilding Lebanon and achieving lasting stability.

The meeting was attended by James O'Mealia, Head of the Political and Economic Section at the U.S. Embassy; Political Adviser Carel Touma; Kataeb Political Bureau member Zeina Hobeika; and Head of the Party’s Foreign Affairs Department Marwan Abdallah.
