Kataeb leader Samy Gemayel on Wednesday noted that his party sought a courageous president who is capable of addressing all country’s issues, handling them with all the Lebanese, regenerating the Lebanese' confidence and the country’s sovereignty, saying that he should be respected by all and capable of bringing everyone to the table to discuss radical solutions and carry out necessary reforms.
“ We talked about what brings us together, especially the attempt to develop a common strategy for the presidential elections that would decide the fate of the country and the Lebanese in the next six years. We have discovered in the past six years the importance of the presidency, whether positively or negatively,” Gemayel said after meeting the National Moderation bloc at its headquarters in Saifi.
“Today we discovered that we had a similar approach even on the issue of the presidency. We will continue to communicate with all the parties and all the blocs with which we share the same concern in a bid to contribute together in electing a president. He should give hope to the Lebanese, put an end to migration and make us dream of a Lebanon in which the Lebanese love to live in their dignity and do not have to storm banks to afford their basic needs,” he pointed out.
“What matters to us is the strategy of the battle. Last week’s presidential election session was scheduled quickly and we did not complete the consultations between each other to reach a single approach. This must bee done for the next session. From here, we will intensify our contacts with all the blocs and friends and with MP Michel Mouawad, the Lebanese Forces, the Democratic Gathering and the Forces of Change,” he added.
Gemayel called for the adoption of a strategy that would lead to the election of a president who should be able to address the country’s main issues.
The meeting was attended by Kataeb lawmakers Selim Sayegh, Nadim Gemayel and National Moderation bloc lawmakers Walid al-Baarini, Sajih Attieh, Mohammad Sleiman, and the bloc’s Secretary General Hadi Hobeich.
