Former Israeli war cabinet member Benny Gantz said on Thursday that "Lebanon should burn" if Hezbollah does not stop attacking Israel, calling on the Israeli government to focus on the northern border where fighting has intensified with Hezbollah.
"From a military perspective, efforts should be concentrated on the North, whether through an agreement or escalation if needed," he said in an interview with Israel's Channel 12 News.
"Nobody wants to see Lebanon burn," Gantz added. "However, that's what will happen if Hezbollah doesn't stop attacking Israel."
Despite his resignation, Gantz will support any action that the government might decide against Lebanon, Haaretz reported.
Gantz resigned from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government on Sunday citing, among other reasons, the absence of a post-war plan for Gaza.
