Gucci Under Fire for Cultural Appropriation

Gucci is being criticized for cultural appropriation as it was selling a headscarf called “Indy Full Turban"; an accessory and a name that Internet users have deemed as insensitive toward the Sikh culture.

The Italian house was selling the product on Nordstrom’s website for $790, before changing its name to “Indy Full Head Wrap” following criticism.

The item appears to be listed as “sold out” on the website.

“The Sikh turban is not a fashion accessory, but it’s also a sacred religious article of faith. We hope more can be done to recognize this critical context. #appropriation,” the Sikh Coalition denounced on Twitter.
