A horrifying incident unfolded in the town of Faraya, Keserwan, early on Sunday, claiming the life of 20-year-old Khalil Khalil. The tragedy occurred when Jonathan Chamoun deliberately ran over Khalil following a heated argument over the right of way.
According to reports, the altercation began when the two men had a dispute about traffic rules. The confrontation escalated as Chamoun, determined to settle the disagreement, followed Khalil to his house.
Khalil’s sister stepped outside after noticing a suspicious car moving in the area. To her horror, she found her brother’s body lying lifeless on the ground. Witnesses say Chamoun approached her and uttered chilling words: "Let him learn not to mess with me."
Khalil’s sister, Maysam, spoke to MTV about the horror she witnessed: "I woke up to screams and rushed outside to find a large car repeatedly hitting my brother’s rented car," she said.
She described how Khalil’s mother was by his side but remained motionless, as though in disbelief.
"My brother was running from the killer to the house, and I saw him holding his head while groaning. He heard me and saw that I had arrived. I wish I had caught up with him earlier, and I wish we had stopped the attacker."
In response to the tragic event, Mount Lebanon's Public Prosecutor, Judge Samer Lichaa, issued a directive for a ten-day search and inquiry concerning the suspect, Jonathan Chamoun, who is accused of running over Khalil.
The town of Faraya has been gripped by anger, with a heavy presence of army and security forces to maintain order. In an expression of their outrage, several residents of the town blocked roads using burning tires, demanding that the perpetrator be handed over and brought to justice.
