Tensions between Hezbollah and Israel escalated on Wednesday as approximately 20 rockets were launched from Lebanon toward northern Israel. According to Israel's Channel 12, no injuries were reported from the rocket fire. Later during the day, the Israeli army said around 40 rockets were launched from Lebanon at the Haifa area.
Some of the rockets were intercepted, but several impacts were identified in the area.
Furthermore, the Israeli army said its forces dismantled a 25-meter-long Hezbollah tunnel that crossed about 10 meters into Israel's territory.
"We detected this a few months ago, we identified and investigated it ... and now we can confirm that we are also dismantling it," military spokesman Daniel Hagari said in a televised briefing on Tuesday.
The Israeli army further announced that several Hezbollah drone storage sites, both above and below ground, were destroyed in Israeli airstrikes in southern Lebanon on Tuesday,
In a separate strike overnight, Israeli airstrikes struck a Hezbollah weapons manufacturing plant in Beirut, and a command center belonging to the group’s intelligence division.
In response, Hezbollah announced that it had targeted an Israeli force with artillery and rocket fire as the force attempted to advance toward the Al-Labouneh area, forcing a retreat.
Hezbollah also claimed responsibility for detonating an explosive device that targeted Israeli soldiers attempting to infiltrate the town of Blida, resulting in what the group described as "direct hits".
The Israeli military confirmed that three of its soldiers were wounded in battles in southern Lebanon. On Wednesday morning, the Israeli military also intercepted two projectiles fired from Lebanon after warning sirens were activated in several coastal areas south of Haifa and in the Metula region.
In the early hours of the morning, the Israeli air force carried out four airstrikes. The first strike hit a house in the town of Aytaat, resulting in the death of a medic affiliated with the Scout Association. The other three strikes targeted the town of Deir Antar. Additionally, six individuals were reportedly injured in an Israeli airstrike that targeted two bulldozers in the town of Tayr Debba, located in the Tyre district.
Israeli airstrikes also targeted the eastern Bekaa region and Iqlim al-Kharroub. According to initial reports, the strikes have resulted in several casualties and significant damage.
In the early hours of Wednesday, Israeli warplanes bombed a plain in the town of Sariin, located in eastern Bekaa, and the village of Halanieh, east of Baalbek. The strikes killed two people and left several others injured, according to preliminary casualty reports.
Moreover, Israeli jets targeted the outskirts of Wardaniyeh, marking the first air raid on Iqlim al-Kharroub since the onset of the current conflict. The strike hit a residential apartment within a hotel that reportedly housed displaced families. The National News Agency (NNA) reported that initial assessments suggest the attack resulted in multiple deaths and injuries.
Reports also emerged of Israeli drones flying over Beirut's southern suburbs as smoke was seen rising from several buildings following the bombardment.
On Wednesday, the Israeli army said it had struck 185 Hezbollah sites in Lebanon over the past day, including sites where cells of operatives were gathered, observation posts, rocket launchers and weapon depots.
