Elias Semaan: The Country Is Occupied, We Are Working to Make the Impossible Possible

Head of the Students and Youth Department at the Kataeb Party Elias Semaan highlighted that numerous activities have been conducted, particularly with Lebanese Forces students, saying that an opposition front has been established within universities to demand the fulfillment of commitments, especially regarding the presidential elections.

"We sparked the uprising from the Faculty of Law at the Lebanese University to demand the implementation of international resolutions. We regularly meet with allies to organize actions on economic and political fronts and to energize the opposition student movement," Semaan said in an interview with MTV.

He acknowledged the challenging times, describing the country as occupied.

Semaan rejected the notion of blaming students for the national failure, which he attributes to forces neglecting their duties and undermining all commitments.

"If the State decides not to defend us, we will act because we are the core of the Kataeb Party, and the Kataeb Party is the core of Lebanon. The Kataeb students are ready for any threat facing Lebanon," he pointed out.

He emphasized that there are citizens unwilling to live as second-class citizens because they pay taxes, electricity bills, and meet all state demands.

Regarding Syrian refugees, he noted that the Kataeb Party had called for a solution to this issue since the outbreak of events in Syria.

He mentioned that Kataeb Party leader MP Samy Gemayel visited Russia and called for the establishment of safe zones on the Lebanese-Syrian border to house refugees.

"Hassan Nasrallah said to open the sea to deport the refugees, forgetting that he controls the illegal crossings. Therefore, he should have returned them to Syria through these crossings," he stated.
