Polls closed across Mount Lebanon on Sunday evening following a full day of municipal and mayoral elections in all six districts of the governorate, with vote counting now underway.
The elections, widely viewed as a key test of local political momentum, unfolded smoothly throughout the day. As ballot boxes were sealed and tallying began, early unofficial results began to emerge, particularly in the mukhtar (local heads) races.
Mukhtar Results Roll In
According to the Kataeb Party's team monitoring the elections, several of its candidates secured wins in towns and villages across Mount Lebanon.
Victories were recorded for Fady Choueiry in Mkalles, Walid El Ashkar in Beit El Kikko, and Sleiman Samir El Chartouni in Chartoun.
Adel El Asmar won in Knaysseh, Beshara Abou Diwan in Al-Oyoun, and Joseph Abdel Ahad in Douwar. Additional wins went to Nassif Elias in Ras El Harf, Romanos Daoud in Haret Hamzeh, and Robert Obeid in Aaramoun. In Al-Aatshaneh, Milad Salameh was elected, alongside Jihad Maatouk in Dhour El-Souwan, George Samaha in Al-Jouar, and Sassin El-Qahi in Mar Boutros.
Bechara Zeynoun took the mukhtar seat in Biaqout, Pierre Irani in Chiyah, and both Asaad Abi Rached and Robert Abi Nader won in Sin El Fil’s Jisr El Basha neighborhood. In Sin El Fil’s main city neighborhood, Nakhleh Kahaleh, Rony Abou Khalil, and Nassif Azar were declared winners.
Additional results showed wins for Charbel Karam and Philip Tohme in Kornet Hamra, and Fady Maroun Beaini in Ain El Delbe. In Mansourieh, Basileos El Hajj and Khairallah Hammouch were elected. Naji Yammine, Daoud El Hayek, and Elie El Hayek secured wins in Beit Chabeb El Chawiyeh. Fady Saad and Matta Matta won in Remhala and Ain al-Jdeideh, respectively.
Fares Eid secured a win in Al-Mtolleh (Chouf), Amine Karky in Al-Khalleh, Katia Kesrouani Meraab in Ghodras, and Abdo Khoury in Bentaal. In Jleisseh/Jouret El Qatine, Jad Toufic Zgheib was declared the winner, while in Baabdat, Sabah Korbani and Charbel Melky were elected. Moreover, Marwan Kamil Bou Doumit won in Ain El-Kharoubeh and Emile Mallah in Mazraat Yachouh.
Further electoral victories were recorded with Tony Tabet and Fouad Jabbour winning in the Bhamdoun-Aley district, George Kahi and Elias Kahi in Klayaat, Samir Abdo Chaaya in Tarshish, as well as Antoine Lteif and Milad Zaylaa in Okaybeh.
Ain Dara in the Aley District saw victories for George Badr, Moein Zeytouni, and Charbel Yammine.
George Matar won in Lehfed, Bassam Habib in Kharbeh, and both Taan Tarabay and Charbel Assaker in Majdel. Rachmaya elected Eddy El-Kafrawi, Joseph Bou Selwan, and Antoine Najm. George Qassouf was elected in Zabbougha.
George Hanna Abou Jaoudeh won in Fayadieh and Avadis Antranig Korkonian in Mezher.
Elsewhere, Chawki Abi Ghanem secured a win in Wata El-Joz, Zeydan Aoun in Fanar, and Salim Moukarzel in Ain Aar. Joseph Nassour was elected in Tabarja. In Qartaba, George Karam Karam was victorious, while Charbel Chelala won in Kfaryassine.
In Haret Sakher, part of the Jounieh municipality, Bechara Ghanem, Carlos Chababi, and Rabih El-Khoury were elected.
Municipal Contests See Strong Showings
On the municipal front, initial tallies indicate strong showings by lists backed by the Kataeb Party and its allies in areas such as Jdeideh-Bauchrieh-Sed, Jounieh, Jbeil and Dbayeh with early results pointing to a significant lead for established candidates.
The full list led by Nicole Gemayel has won the elections in Bikfaya.
The slates backed by the Kataeb Party in Bolonia, Biaqout, Beit Chabeb, Zouk Mosbeh, Wadi Shahrour, Roumieh and Shartoun have also secured victory, according to preliminary results.
The list headed by Antoine Chakhtoura won fully in Dekwaneh.
