Dollarization of School Fees Threatens Upcoming Academic Year

According to Addiyar newspaper, the educational sector in Lebanon is currently going through its most difficult situation ever.

It is encountering various challenges that compel it to take actions that put it in confrontation with the parents of students.

Due to the worsening economic conditions, the sector is compelled to raise its school fees, which puts a heavy burden on the parents, prompting them to express their disagreement more strongly.

The newspaper indicated that the upcoming academic year might witness the dollarisation of school fees. This leaves parents with two options: either to reluctantly agree, facing financial pressures as a consequence, or to resort to public schools, where it is rumored that the Minister of Education is considering the dollarisation of school fees as well.

The newspaper concluded that the next academic year might be disrupted by strikes and sit-ins.
