Democratic Gathering Bloc Affirms Support for Joseph Aoun’s Presidency
The Democratic Gathering bloc convened a meeting on Wednesday, attended by former leader Walid Jumblatt and bloc leader MP Taymour Jumblatt, along with MPs Marwan Hamadeh, Akram Chehayeb, Hadi Abou El-Hosen, Wael Abou Faour, Bilal Abdallah, Faisal Sayegh, Raji Saad, Progressive Socialist Party Secretary-General Zafer Nasser, and MP Jumblatt’s advisor, Houssam Harb.
The meeting focused on the overall situation ahead of the upcoming parliamentary session to elect a president.
Discussions centered on the latest political developments and updates related to the presidential election.
In a statement issued following the meeting, the bloc reiterated its firm position in support of electing General Joseph Aoun as President of the Republic. It deemed this step a crucial milestone for resolving Lebanon's ongoing crises.
