Delegation of Democratic Gathering Bloc Visits Gemayel

A delegation of the Democratic Gathering bloc, including MP Hadi Abou Al-Hassan and the bloc’s Secretary-General Zafer Nasser, visited Kataeb Party Leader Samy Gemayel in Bikfaya.

The meeting was attended by the Kataeb Secretary-General Serge Dagher, Member of Kataeb Political Bureau, Rita Boulos, and Lawyer Sassine Sassine.

Following the meeting, Abou Al-Hassan confirmed that the bloc’s visit comes as a continuation of the existing communication between the two parties, saying that there will be subsequent meetings.

“We emphasized the necessity of strengthening the Lebanese political reality by electing a president,” he said.

“Time has come to elect a president in order to fortify ourselves. We agreed on avoiding the vacancy in the Army’s leadership and extending the term of the Army Commander, as well as appointing a new military council,” he added.

He emphasized the need to preserve the structure of the army so that this institution remains strong and cohesive in facing challenges.

Abou Al-Hassan stressed the importance of maintaining the delicate national balance.

“Last year, the democratic gathering submitted two proposals to raise the retirement age,” he concluded.
