Dagher Says Kataeb May Be the Only Party Enjoying a Democratic Scene

Kataeb Secretary General Serge Dagher on Sunday noted that the party’s 32 General Congress approved the women’s quota which was raised to 25%, stressing the importance of women's role in the society.

“Women’s role is very important to us whether at the level of leadership or in the regions, departments or seminars. We consider that women represent more than half of the society. We hope that there would be a highest percentage of women’s representation in the political bureau,” Dagher said in an interview with Voice of Lebanon radio station.

“We are proud that we might be the only party that enjoys this democratic scene. The first day of the General Congress included a political speech as the party rejected compromises and called on everyone to abide by the law and the opposition to abandon the laws imposed by Hezbollah,” he pointed out.

“Administrative issues as well as future plans were raised in the second day of the Congress which turned today into an electoral body. The elections began after the quorum was secured,” he added.
