Serge Dagher, the Political Assistant to the Kataeb President for Political and Electoral Affairs, accused Hezbollah on Wednesday of abandoning its long-professed mission of “resisting Israel” and instead ensuring the security of Israel’s northern border.
“We’ve moved from the lie that ‘our weapons are aimed at confronting Israel and throwing it into the sea’ to the reality of guaranteeing the safety of northern Israel under the sponsorship of Sheikh Naim Qassem,” Dagher wrote on X, referring to Hezbollah’s secretary-general.
“What a ‘resistance’!” he added sarcastically.
Dagher said Hezbollah’s arsenal is now being used openly for internal purposes rather than national defense.
“These weapons are now clearly meant for domestic use: to confront the Lebanese north of the Litani and to serve Iran’s projects whenever needed,” he wrote.
His comments came after Hezbollah leader Naim Qassem stated on Tuesday that Hezbollah’s weapons currently pose no threat to Israel’s northern settlements and that the ceasefire arrangement applies only to areas south of the Litani River.
