The General Secretariat of Catholic Schools in Lebanon announced plans for a potential resumption of classes on Monday, September 30, following consultations with the Minister of Education.

In an official statement, the Secretariat urged school principals, alongside administrative and educational staff, to kick off preparations as early as Thursday, September 26. These preparations are intended to accommodate varying approaches to the reopening, which may take place in-person, through hybrid learning, or entirely online, depending on the circumstances of each school and in coordination with other schools within the same region.

"Reopening schools is one of the markers of national resilience against the brutal aggression we are facing," the statement read. "It is a testament to our commitment to fulfilling our educational duty, just as a doctor in a hospital or a soldier on the battlefield upholds their duty."

In light of the difficult conditions many families are experiencing, the Secretariat also emphasized its solidarity with displaced communities. Efforts are currently underway to develop mechanisms to support affected families, including providing educational resources where possible to ensure that learning continues despite the challenges.

Recognizing the fluid nature of the situation, the General Secretariat pledged to keep its meetings ongoing to monitor developments and adapt accordingly.

"We will continue to meet to stay abreast of all changes," it assured.
