Lebanon Expands School and University Closures Amid Ongoing Tensions

Lebanon's Minister of Education, Abbas Halabi, announced the suspension of classes across a broader range of regions in response to the escalating security situation.

In addition to previously declared closures, which affected schools, high schools, and vocational institutes in southern Lebanon, Nabatieh, the Bekaa region, Baalbek-Hermel, and the southern suburbs, the minister has now extended the closures to Beirut, Mount Lebanon, the North, and Akkar.

The shutdown, which applies to both public and private educational institutions, will continue on Tuesday, halting classes at the Lebanese University and all private higher education institutions across the country.

Minister Halabi urged all educational and university administrators to stay informed and follow updates issued by the Ministry of Education, emphasizing the need for vigilance amid the current security concerns.
