President Joseph Aoun said negotiations remain Lebanon’s preferred and necessary alternative to war, warning that any military confrontation would achieve nothing and would only result in further damage and destruction.
Speaking to a delegation from the Tashnag Party, Aoun stressed that contacts are continuing at both the domestic and international levels to secure stability in southern Lebanon through talks conducted via the so-called “mechanism” committee.
He underlined the importance of national unity in strengthening Lebanon’s position at the negotiating table, urging all parties to act with a strong sense of national responsibility.
Aoun cautioned against targeting the State, saying such actions would yield no results, as Lebanese confidence in State institutions remains firm and has been restored.
The president reiterated that negotiation, not war, is the viable path forward, warning that renewed conflict would only deepen harm and destruction without delivering any gains.
