Alfa and Touch Employees Start Open-Ended Strike

The Council of the Union of Employees and Users of Operating Companies of the Cellular Sector in Lebanon, issued a statement emphasizing the cessation of services to the public due to the breach of promises contained in the collective labor contract on the part of officials.

In the statement, the union leadership criticized the unwillingness of the telecommunications stakeholders to grant employees their demands, which have forced them to use the shutdown to demand equality in terms of promotions, material incentives and professional development.

The employees of Alfa and Touch carried out a warning strike last Friday to protest discretionary promotions and to demand the implementation of the collective bargaining agreement.

For hours, the stores stopped receiving customers and providing customer service to the population, as well as all technical and logistical tasks.

The union restated its solidarity with the call of the employees and pointed out that the movement will not stop until all workers have obtained their rights.
