50 Poisoning Cases Reported in Bekaa

Fifty cases of food poisoning were reported in different areas of the Bekaa region in Lebanon due to the consumption of raw meat.

"After inspecting meat samples, we discovered that the source of the poisoning was the meat people had purchased from local butcher shops in Saadnayel, Rayaq, and two others in Rashaya. Results show that the meat was contaminated, and the Health Department in Bekaa closed down all four butcher shops," read a statement issued by the Ministry of Public Health.

"Cases suffering from food poisoning were admitted to hospitals at the expense of the Ministry of Health," it added.
