Maronite Bishops Reject Lebanese Involvement in Hamas-Israeli Conflict

The Council of Maronite Bishops issued a statement on Wednesday expressing their firm opposition to Lebanon's involvement in the Hamas-Israeli conflict.

They emphasized that all Arab nations have distanced themselves from the conflict's repercussions. The bishops urged local parties to protect the people of the South from the suffering caused by the conflict, regardless of their religious or political affiliations.

Additionally, they cautioned against any attempts to link the southern border conflict to settlements that could jeopardize Lebanon's sovereignty, oil, water resources, and geographical rights.

The bishops reminded foreign parties involved in such matters that negotiations regarding Lebanon's affairs are the responsibility of the president, emphasizing that any negotiations should be postponed until a new president is elected.
