The Council of Maronite Bishops on Wednesday blasted officials for supplying the government’s earnings from the Lebanese citizens’ pockets, urging them to refrain from a provocative rhetoric.
During their monthly meeting, the Council condemned the unfortunate and distressing Aley incident which had led to the death of two people and caused multiple injuries along with political and security tensions.
“We call on authorities to bring justice and apply the law against those responsible in order to prevent any risk of delinquency, chaos or rampant gunmen on the streets as it would damage the state’s reputation and the Lebanese people’s trust in its capacities,” the statement noted.
Bishops also pointed out that the Lebanese have been waiting for nearly half a year for the 2019 draft budget to be approved.
