Lebanon’s government is facing mounting challenges. It is trying to balance the demands of the US to disarm Hezbollah, a militia and political party controlling much of the country, against those of Iran, Hezbollah’s main sponsor, to do no such thing. The Lebanese government’s decision last Thursday to endorse the objectives of a US-drafted plan provoked a negative response from Hezbollah and, to an extent, its ally within the Shiite community, the Amal Movement. Boy Escapes Rape Attempt in Akkar, Culprit Arrested
A ten-year-old boy from Mechmech, Akkar was subjected to an attempted rape by a twenty-year-old man.
The security forces arrested the culprit, and the boy was taken to Karantina Hospital in Beirut for treatment.
The investigations are ongoing with strict confidentiality.
