The Internal Security Forces said Friday that they arrested “a gang” of four people suspected of stealing electricity wires and other things in the Akkar area.
Here’s what we know:
• “As a result of the investigation, we managed to spot the identities of the ones involved in the robberies,'' the ISF said.
• The ISF also said that two of the suspects were caught stealing olives from an olive grove and were found in possession of a hunting rifle, a car battery, a gas tank, 3 gallons of gasoline and other things. They also confessed to being part of a gang of four. The other two were arrested in Halba in Akkar, the ISF said.
• Theft has been on the rise in Lebanon as it suffers from an unprecedented economic crisis. These incidents include the of stealing the state-owned Electricite du Liban’s wires, oftentimes causing electricity cuts in many parts of the country.
