MP Paula Yaacoubian said that the 2022 draft budget lacked balance, and the performance had gone from bad to worse.

“Today, we are facing a historic opportunity to prove that this Parliament is truly its own master and bears a historical responsibility to save the country,” Yaacoubian said during the budget session.

“We work as a bloc "above the table" and meet in front of cameras, journalists, and the media. We do not hide or make settlements "from under the table" as is customary in Lebanese politics,” she added.

Yaacoubian stressed that the draft budget had fallen in form before content, saying that it is a game of numbers that is not based on a clear strategic plan.

“This game of numbers will lead to more contraction as confidence will remain lost,” she concluded.
