According to Lebanese judicial sources, the United States has entered the scene to investigate the source of funds of Banque du Liban Governor Riad Salameh. Meanwhile, Beirut's judicial circles are eagerly awaiting the issuance of the "Red Notice" by mid-next week in accordance with the German arrest warrant.
A prominent judicial source informed "Asharq al-Awsat" newspaper that the focus on Salameh's financial files is attracting the attention of the judiciary due to the increasing pace of European judicial proceedings. The latter will be translated into similar warrants that will require prompt action and the provision of quick answers to issuing authorities.
Sources noted that proceedings may not be limited to European countries, as Lebanon has been informed that 17 countries, including the United States, Monaco, and African nations, have bank accounts connected to the BDL governor.
The source confirmed that these countries, including Washington, have started investigating the sources of Salameh's funds and those close to him.
