The Lebanese Army announced on Sunday that it arrested two Syrian nationals at a checkpoint in Hermel in the Beqaa, who allegedly stabbed a retired Lebanese Army officer and stole his car.

The Lebanese Army said in a tweet that the two individuals had asked a former army chief officer-turned-taxi driver, to drive them from Dekwaneh in Mount Lebanon to the North of the country.

They then allegedly stabbed him several times and threw him out of his car in the locality of Heri, 20 kilometers south of Tripoli.

The victim was admitted to a hospital in the region and an investigation was opened.
