U.S. President-elect Donald Trump has asked the Biden administration to accelerate efforts toward securing a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah, according to a report from Israeli media outlet Ynet.

Citing unnamed U.S. officials, the report stated that Trump expects to see advancements in negotiations aimed at ending hostilities.

According to the sources, U.S. special envoy Amos Hochstein remains optimistic that an agreement between the two parties can be achieved. Hochstein is said to believe that such an accord would bring an end to over a year of cross-border violence and halt Israel’s ground operations in southern Lebanon.
