Trump to Host Lebanese President Aoun at White House in July

The White House has formally invited Lebanese President Joseph Aoun to Washington for talks with U.S. President Donald Trump on July 21, the Lebanese Embassy in Washington announced, describing the visit as a reflection of the longstanding partnership between the two countries.

In a statement, the embassy said the official invitation offers the two leaders an opportunity to discuss a range of issues of mutual interest, including bilateral relations, regional security, and continued U.S. support for Lebanon's sovereignty, stability, territorial integrity and state institutions.

The visit comes after what the embassy described as an intensive period of diplomatic engagement led by Lebanon's mission in Washington in close coordination with the Lebanese Presidency and senior officials in the U.S. administration.

According to the statement, those efforts were aimed at strengthening dialogue between the two countries at the highest political level and completing the arrangements that paved the way for the official visit.

The embassy said it is coordinating all aspects of President Aoun's trip in close cooperation with the Lebanese Presidency, the White House and the U.S. Department of State to ensure the success of the bilateral meeting.
