Taymour Jumblatt Calls for Serious Pressure on Israel to Deter It from Expanding War to Lebanon

Progressive Socialist Party Leader Taymour Jumblatt, questioned: "After nearly five months and the ongoing genocide war committed by Israel against civilians in Gaza, the latest of which is the massacre in Al-Rashid neighborhood where innocent people waiting in front of relief convoys were killed, and amid the ongoing occupation's policies of starvation, siege, and collective punishment that exacerbates the humanitarian situation disastrously, which is expanding to Rafah, the West Bank, and beyond, doesn't all this necessitate actual international pressure to immediately cease fire and put an end to the killings?"

He emphasized that "the escalation of these atrocities and the increasing Israeli threats of expanding the war to Lebanon dictates intensifying diplomatic efforts to deter Israel from the possibility of expanding its aggressive war towards Lebanon."

In a statement on the sidelines of Saturday receptions at Moukhtara Palace, he noted that "the greatest source of danger comes from Israel", calling at the same time for "fortifying the internal arena and addressing the key issues as well as restructuring the authority starting from electing a president of the republic"

Juumblatt stressed that "dialogue in search of common grounds remains the best to dispel concerns and unify visions, to emerge from crises and pave the way for economic and social reforms."
