Tawile: Parliament Passing Amendments to Banking Secrecy Law Highlights Major Points

Head of the Kataeb’s Economic and Social Council Jean Tawile said on Wednesday that yesterday's failed changes to the Lebanon 1956 Banking Secrecy law highlighted 3 major points.

"Those in authority to lift the banking secrecy are the main pillars of the corrupt system," he tweeted.

"Removing the investigation of "other financial crimes" will limit the law's scope and provide discharge on many crimes," he added.

"It reveals the political classes' true intention not to reach a deal with the IMF," he concluded.
