Lebanese authorities have discovered a Hezbollah communications network integrated with Beirut’s electrical infrastructure, similar to networks the group is believed to have established in southern Lebanon, the Bekaa Valley, and Beirut’s southern suburbs, according to sources cited by Al Hadath.

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said Israel had completely destroyed 24 historic villages in southern Lebanon whose residents, he claimed, had operated on behalf of Hezbollah, while the Israeli military announced additional operations targeting the group's underground infrastructure and weapons sites near the Lebanese border.

In June, the United States signed two documents bearing on Lebanon: a memorandum of understanding with Iran, and a Trilateral Framework Agreement with Israel and Lebanon. Both included a cease-fire commitment between Israel and Lebanon, but the first emboldened the Iranian regime, while the second empowered the Lebanese state. Only one of these initiatives can prevail. The chances of Lebanon’s sovereignty triumphing over Iranian hegemony have increased with the signing of the June 26 framework agreement; however, the Lebanese state has a long fight ahead, and the Trump administration needs to help.

A Syrian opposition leader said on Monday that the opposition would not stop fighting until the Syrian government committed to the United Nations process and a political transition.
“We are ready to negotiate starting tomorrow,” Hadi al-Bahri said in a televised press conference from Istanbul.
