State Security Arrests Key Cross-Border Arms Smuggler in Akkar Raid

Lebanon’s State Security forces have apprehended a high-profile arms smuggler, identified only by his initials (M.H.), in a pre-dawn operation on Friday, according to local media reports.

The arrest was made by a patrol from the Akkar Regional Directorate of State Security – Qobayat Branch, following an extended period of surveillance and monitoring.

The suspect is believed to have played a central role in smuggling weapons between Syria and Lebanon via illegal border crossings in the northern region.

During a search of the suspect’s residence, State Security personnel uncovered a substantial cache of weapons. The seized arsenal included 25 Kalashnikov rifles, a BKC machine gun, and a quantity of ammunition.

The confiscated weapons have been secured, and the suspect is undergoing interrogation under the supervision of the relevant judiciary.
