Al-Diyar newspaper reported that "recently, the number of crimes and assaults as well as the suicide rate have increased significantly and affected all Lebanese regions.

The newspaper also stated that "dozens of daily attacks are committed by motorcycle drivers, who steal and snatch purses in broad daylight".

It also pointed out that "stealing the electric cables is on top of the theft crimes, given the very high revenues they generate".
