Military Prosecutor Files Complaint Against Information Branch

Military Prosecutor Peter Germanos on Monday lodged a complaint against the Internal Security Forces' Information Branch over disobedience and investigation leakages.

Germanos accused the security agency of disobeying his authority and orders, saying that information from corruption-related investigations had been leaked by some of the department's personnel.

Facts pertaining to the investigations have been distorted and suspects were kept in detention beyond legal deadlines, the judge noted in his complaint.

The magistrate told The Daily Star newspaper that he filed the complaint before Military Investigative Judge Fadi Sawan, referring several officers for questioning.

Later on Monday, Germanos asked the Judicial Police, the Army's Intelligence, State Security, the General Security's investigative department, the ISF's Information Branch and the Customs to report any graft cases involving officers.

The judge requested that he would be informed of briberies paid to members of security agencies, notably in files related to unlicensed excavation of artesian wells and illegal construction works.
