French Authorities Study Plan to Launch Air Taxis in Paris

Flying taxis will be introduced into the French capital by 2024 for the Olympic Games, in a $11.4 million project launched jointly by Airbus and the French transport operator, RATP Group.

The two companies, in partnership with airport operator Groupe ADP, the Paris Ile-de-France region and the French civil aviation authority (DGAC), are exploring the feasibility of "vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) vehicles" to start operating in Paris.

The feasibility study will focus on management, urban integration, maintenance, design and production..

Efforts are ongoing to find a site that is capable of hosting air taxis in the region around Paris and to have it ready within 18 months, AFP reported.
