Salloum Urges Tighter Controls on Medicine Smuggling

Head of Order of Pharmacists Joe Salloum  emphasized that the solution to securing medicine is not to allow all forms of smuggling, counterfeiting and bad medicines to enter the country.

"We have no authority over illegal associations and dispensaries, and the authority is in the hands of the Minister of Health," he said in an interview on Al-Jadeed.

"We have not left the issue, even if it is outside our jurisdiction, and we are communicating with the State Security Agency and the Financial Public Prosecution," Salloum said.

Salloum warned that smuggled medicine and the country's legalization of all forms of counterfeit medicines is a crime against citizens and patients, pointing out that the syndicate's inspection initiates the closure of any pharmacy in which the presence of an unregistered medicine is found, but we do not have any authority outside the framework of pharmacies.
