Salam: Lebanon Moving Forward on Reform, Security, and Regional Hub Vision

Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam said Monday that the country is moving forward on a path of comprehensive reform, emphasizing Lebanon’s commitment to security and economic recovery.

Speaking to a Saudi delegation in Beirut, Salam affirmed that Lebanon is “committed to preventing its territories from being used to harm the security of brotherly countries or to smuggle drugs.”

A statement from the Prime Minister’s office said Salam discussed measures to resume Lebanese exports to Saudi Arabia, stressing the importance of overcoming obstacles that have hindered trade.

“I called on all relevant parties to accelerate efforts to lift barriers that are affecting the resumption of exports, which are vital to Lebanon’s economy,” he said.

Salam noted that the planned revival of exports stems from discussions he held earlier this year with Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman.

“Everyone can attest to the Crown Prince and the Kingdom’s support for Lebanon and its stability,” Salam added. “They have our deepest gratitude.”

On Monday, Salam also met with a large delegation from Morgan Stanley attending the Beirut One conference, scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday, aimed at supporting Lebanon’s economic revival.

“The delegation’s visit reflects renewed international confidence in Lebanon’s ability to rebound and in the capabilities of its citizens,” he said.

Salam outlined his government’s reform-driven vision, emphasizing transparency and modernization.

“The government has made tangible progress in modernizing public institutions, strengthening public-private partnerships, and investing in vital infrastructure,” he said.

He also highlighted Lebanon’s strategic location and skilled workforce, noting that these assets position the country to become a regional hub for promising service sectors.

“Progress on security, economic, and social fronts has opened the door to a new phase of recovery and reconstruction,” he added.
