Jordan’s Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II and Princess Rajwa Al Hussein are expecting their first baby this summer, the Royal Hashemite Court (RHC) announced on Wednesday.
“The Royal Hashemite Court extends its sincere congratulations to Their Majesties King Abdullah II and Queen Rania Al Abdullah on this occasion, and wishes Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Al Hussein and Princess Rajwa good health and joy as they welcome their baby,” the RHC said in a statement.
The royal couple tied the knot in June last year. Prince Al Hussein, named heir by his father, King Abdullah, in 2009, married Princess Rajwa, a Saudi architect from a prominent family related to the Saudi royal family.
Their wedding took place in the mid-century Zahran Palace in the capital Amman - the scene of other key Hashemite kingdom weddings, including King Abdullah II to Queen Rania and the monarch’s father, the late King Hussein bin Talal.
Prominent guests, including US First Lady Jill Biden, attended the ceremony, which was followed by a reception later. Britain’s Prince and Princess of Wales made a surprise appearance.
