Patrick Richa, head of the Kataeb Party’s Media Department, expressed deep concern over the “dangerous adventure” that Hezbollah has entangled Lebanon in, criticizing the group’s unilateral decision to involve the country in an unwanted military confrontation with Israel.
"We are going through the consequences of a unilateral decision made by Tehran. Based on calculations that have nothing to do with Lebanon’s strategic interests, Hezbollah is ready to destroy our country so as to safeguard its regional interests and secure its place among the major decision-makers in the region," Richa told L’Orient Today.
"We’ll see whether in a few weeks’ time, we’ll hear for the second time the famous expression of ‘if I’d known’," he said, alluding to Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah's regretful remarks after the 2006 conflict broke out.
Nasrallah, then, admitted that had he known the kidnapping of two Israeli soldiers would lead to such a devastating war, he would not have proceeded with the act.
