The newly-rebranded RB team have unveiled their 2024 challenger – the VCARB 01 – at a glittering launch event in Las Vegas.
It has been all change for the Faenza-based squad for 2024, after they brought their AlphaTauri era to a close following the conclusion of last season, and that change includes their livery.
While AlphaTauri’s design predominantly showcased dark blue and white, the new RB will sport a sparkling blue and white livery as its new colours – harking back to some of the designs seen when the team was known as Toro Rosso.
Driver duo Daniel Ricciardo and Yuki Tsunoda were also on hand as part of the launch, which featured entertainment from the likes of singer-songwriter Kendrick Lamar, and the multi-award winning rapper and record producer, Baby Keem.
Also on stage at the event, alongside Ricciardo and Tsunoda, was Amna Al-Qubaisi, who will be carrying the team's colours in F1 Academy this year.
Of course, the car isn’t the only thing that's fresh at RB, with new Team Principal Mekies taking charge following the retirement of long-serving boss Franz Tost.
There’s also been a host of changes to the operation ahead of this year’s campaign, with three experienced technical and trackside personnel signing on recently.
One of those is Alan Permane – who departed Alpine as their Sporting Director midway through last season – as he takes up the role of Racing Director. Tim Goss will also take on the role of Chief Technical Officer in October, while Guillaume Cattelani joined the team as Deputy Technical Director, reporting to Technical Director Jody Egginton.
What will be a familiar sight for RB is their driver pairing – with both Ricciardo and Tsunoda turning out for the team once more.
The duo will be hoping for a more successful season, with AlphaTauri finishing P8 in the constructors’ last year. Ricciardo in particular will want a smoother campaign, having started 2023 away from the F1 grid before his dramatic return was halted by a broken hand after the summer break.
