Project Watan: Presidential Elections is a Priority not a Vacuum Management

The Executive Council of the "Project Watan" held its weekly meeting headed by Lawmaker Neemat Frem.

“It is essential to abide by what the Constitution stipulates regarding the necessity of electing a president. Parties shall focus during the remaining ten-day period on agreeing on the election of a consensual president who obtains a two-thirds majority and brings together the parties and blocs of all political orientations. Lebanon desperately needs a rescue president,” read a statement issued by the attendees after discussing political, economic and social developments.

The meeting focused on the rams around who will run the country in the event of a vacuum, waiting for the relief to come from an agreement or a settlement.

“Amidst the preoccupation of countries with major global crises, it is time for the Lebanese to know how to manage themselves, and electing the president is a priority, not managing the vacuum,” stressed the statement.

As for bank deposits, the statement said that the situation of depositors became dire with the increasing suffering of people at all levels.

“The concerned authorities must work to regulate the relationship between banks and depositors, so that the depositor gets what is agreed upon from his money without exposing people to danger, in wait for a final solution to be found. It is part of the financial recovery plan,” it concluded.
