President Joseph Aoun on Tuesday criticized recent increases in tuition fees at private schools, describing them as “unacceptable and unjustified."

Speaking to a delegation from the Union of Parents’ Committees representing private school families, Aoun stressed the need to protect the rights of all parties involved in the education sector, including teachers, schools, and students.

He urged the formation of arbitration councils to mediate disputes over tuition adjustments and recommended revisiting Law 515, which governs private education, to make it fairer and more balanced for all stakeholders.

“The increase in tuition fees must be reconsidered. We need mechanisms to ensure justice and fairness for educators, students, and school administrations alike,” Aoun said.
