The Apostolic Nuncio to Lebanon, Archbishop Paolo Borgia, said that the Monastery of Saint Maroun in Annaya, which houses the tomb of Saint Charbel, may be declared an international religious site during Pope Leo’s upcoming visit to Lebanon.
Such a move would highlight the global devotion to Saint Charbel and affirm his enduring importance to the Maronite Church and the wider Christian world.
Borgia added that the Pope’s visit will include meetings with representatives from all segments of Lebanese society, underscoring the Vatican’s message of unity, coexistence, and solidarity with Lebanon’s diverse communities at a time of deep national hardship.
