Cardinal Parolin: Pope Following up on Lebanon's Border Tensions with Great Concern

At the beginning of a meeting in Bkerke with the Vatican Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Mar Bechara Boutros al-Rahi extended a warm welcome to the heads of various religious sects and parliamentary blocs.

He emphasized that this "gathering of the Lebanese family" was an opportunity for dialogue and mutual understanding, especially during these challenging times

The Patriarch expressed his hope that the "visit of the Vatican Secretary of State would usher in peace and bring an end to the ongoing conflict."

He emphasized that "the Vatican provides us with the hope we need, and we are the children of hope and optimism."

Cardinal Parolin also delivered a speech, expressing his wish "to reach solutions for Lebanon and its suffering people."

During the Bkerke meeting, Parolin stated: "The Pope is following the tensions in Lebanon with great concern."

He added, "The region is witnessing multiple conflicts, and Lebanon should be a model for coexistence."

Following the meeting in the Bkerke salon, the attendees moved to participate in a luncheon hosted by Patriarch al-Rahi in honor of the Vatican guest.

The meeting was attended by MP Nadim Gemayel, MP Gebran Bassil, MP Pierre Bou Assi, Grand Mufti of the Republic Sheikh Abdul Latif Deryan, Catholicos of the Armenian Orthodox Aram I Keshishian, Patriarch of the Armenian Catholics Raphael Bedros XXI, President of the Alawite Council Sheikh Ali Qadour and Marada Movement Leader Sleiman Frangieh.
